Farage breaks Parliament rules on first day back as MP

Nigel Farage was heckled by fellow MPs as he was sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Clacton on Tuesday, September 1, marking his return to the House of Commons after triggering a byelection in his own constituency. The Reform UK leader faced groans and laughter during the ceremony, which came just hours before he was accused of breaking parliamentary rules by filming a video on the roof of the Palace of Westminster. As Farage entered the Commons chamber flanked by Reform deputy leader Richard Tice and MP Andrew Rosindell, audible groans were heard from other members. After Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle called for the MP to come forward, one member joked, "Who is it?" prompting laughter. Following the oath, Conservative MP Luke Evans remarked, "Until the next byelection." Farage had triggered the contest by resigning his seat on July 7, citing a "weaponized parliamentary probe" into his finances. He subsequently won the August 13 byelection with an increased majority, though his principal challenger was the novelty candidate Count Binface.
