Farage alleges coordinated establishment fightback against Reform UK

His comments came during a BBC interview where he was pressed on an ongoing parliamentary probe into a £5 million donation he received from a cryptocurrency billionaire and his decision to trigger a by-election in his Clacton constituency. The interview, conducted ahead of Reform UK's party conference, marked Farage's first sit-down with the BBC since he won back his Clacton seat in a by-election last month. That contest was called by Farage in protest against the Commons Standards Committee investigation into whether he failed to properly declare the donation from Christopher Harborne, a Thailand-based British investor. The donation was received before Farage became an MP in July 2024 but within the period when it should have been declared, according to complainants. Farage has consistently maintained the money was a personal gift for his private security and did not require registration.
