Family alleges police negligence after Putney Pusher suspect's death

The family of Nicholas Brandram, a suspect in the 2017 Putney Bridge push case, has accused the Metropolitan Police of negligence and reckless handling after he was found dead at his home in September 2026. Brandram, a 44-year-old banker and former British Army captain, was arrested in June 2026 on suspicion of pushing a woman into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge in May 2017. He was released under investigation but died on September 15, 2026, in what his family says was suicide due to immense pressure from the police probe. His sisters, Alexia Hicks and Sophie Voelcker, alleged that police arrested Brandram with a film crew present, leading to his name being leaked online and subjecting him to public vilification. They insisted he was innocent, pointing to physical discrepancies: the victim reported the attacker had brown eyes, while Brandram had blue eyes; he had a withered leg from an army injury and a prominent military tattoo on his forearm. The sisters also claimed he was at his Bond Street office at the time of the attack and had provided a DNA sample to police, but never received results despite repeated inquiries.
