Ethereum Foundation grades Hegotá EIPs

Published 8 September 2026

The Ethereum Foundation has released a comprehensive technical roadmap for its upcoming Hegotá network upgrade, grading 62 proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) to define the fork's scope and long-term development priorities. The assessment, conducted by approximately 60 researchers and engineers organized into nine teams, marks the first time the Foundation's Protocol Cluster has presented a unified technical priority list. The evaluation, published on Monday, September 7, 2026, identified EIP7805, known as ForkChoice Inclusion Lists (FOCIL), as the sole proposal to receive the highest "S" rating, signifying a mandatory inclusion. This consensus highlights FOCIL's critical role in allowing users to ensure the inclusion of valid transactions without dependence on centralized block builders, thereby mitigating censorship risks at the consensus layer. Alongside FOCIL, EIP8141, referred to as Frame Transactions, was also designated as an essential upgrade, focusing on introducing native account abstraction and paving the way for post-quantum authentication methods.
