Published 3 November 2026

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in South Korea on Monday for a three-day state visit, with a summit with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung scheduled for Tuesday to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional issues. The meeting is expected to cover trade, investment, defense, nuclear power and future industries, according to South Korea’s presidential office. The leaders are also expected to exchange views on the Korean Peninsula and the Middle East. The agenda has been described by both South Korean and Turkish officials, but no summit outcome has yet been reported. The planned program includes the signing of memorandums of understanding and a joint press announcement after the summit, according to the South Korean presidential office. A state dinner was also listed in one account of the schedule. Turkish officials said several documents would be signed during Erdoğan’s visit, without specifying their contents. The visit, scheduled from Nov. 1 to Nov. 4, is Erdoğan’s first trip to South Korea since 2018. The leaders last met in Ankara in 2025, when Lee visited Türkiye for a NATO summit hosted by the country. Their meeting comes ahead of the 70th anniversary...
