England Pakistan 3rd Test Preview

Published 9 September 2026

England is set to face Pakistan in the third and final Test match of their series at Edgbaston in Birmingham, beginning on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. England has already secured the series victory with a 2-0 lead after winning the first two matches. The home team will aim for a rare series whitewash. Pakistan has undergone significant squad changes following their defeats. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released seven players, including Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan, and brought in replacements. Among the new additions are Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal, who are likely to partner Azan Awais at the top of the order. Saim Ayub may be favored for his offspin bowling capabilities. Captain Babar Azam is expected to bat at number five, with Shan Masood moving to the number three position and Abdullah Shafique at number four. Pakistan is also set to debut wicketkeeper Ghazi Ghori, who will replace Rizwan. Ubaid Shah, brother of Naseem Shah, and offspinner Sajid Khan are also potential inclusions. Pace bowler Razaullah is another new face who could make his debut. England, on the other hand, is expected to field a largely unchanged lineup.
