Elliot Graham, Oscar Nominated Editor of Milk, Dies at 50

Elliot Graham, the Oscar-nominated film editor whose credits included Milk, Steve Jobs, Captain Marvel and No Time to Die, died by suicide on Saturday, September 19, in Los Angeles, according to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner. He was 50. The medical examiner's report confirmed both the cause and date of death, and news of his passing was first shared publicly by Milk producer Dan Jinks, who paid tribute to Graham on Facebook early Monday. Graham earned his Academy Award nomination for editing Milk, the 2008 biopic directed by Gus Van Sant and written by Dustin Lance Black, which starred Sean Penn as Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man elected to public office in California. The film received eight Oscar nominations, including one for Graham's editing, and won in the best actor category for Penn and best original screenplay for Black. Jinks wrote in his tribute that the movie would not have come together in the way it did without Graham's amazing work, adding that he had many thoughts and feelings about the sweet, kind and quirky man and would say for now only to rest in peace.
