Eight arrested including boy, 12, after disorder at Edinburgh FLY Festival

Police Scotland arrested eight people, including a 12-year-old boy, following attempts by large groups of youths to breach perimeter fencing and cause disorder at Edinburgh's FLY Festival over the weekend. The arrests were made on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, at the electronic music event held in Princes Street Gardens. According to police, officers were confronted with large numbers of young people attempting to scale fences to gain unauthorized entry. Superintendent Neil Wilson stated that while most attendees were well-behaved, a minority were involved in "disorder and violence, and trespassing on the railway line." He added that bus transport was also disrupted as officers dealt with various incidents. On Saturday, four males aged 15, 17, 18, and 27 were arrested and charged with offences including assault, breach of the peace, and misuse of drugs. On Sunday, a further four males, including the 12-year-old and three men aged 18, 18, and 20, were arrested in connection with similar offences. Police confirmed that reports will be submitted to the relevant authorities.
