EFCC Orders Sylva to Appear Over $14.86m Fraud Allegation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has ordered former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva to appear for questioning over an alleged fraud of 14.86 million dollars linked to a refinery project. The directive was issued on September 1, 2026, shortly after Sylva announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress. EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale confirmed the order, stating that Sylva, who was declared wanted by the commission in November 2025, must make himself available to investigators. The commission accuses Sylva of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of 14,859,257 dollars.
