Edu Leaves Nottingham Forest

Edu Gaspar has officially departed his role as Global Head of Football at Nottingham Forest, concluding a tenure of just over a year. His contract with the Premier League club has been terminated, and he has not been seen at the City Ground or the club's training facilities since early March 2026. Edu, a former Arsenal midfielder, was appointed in July 2025 with a remit that also included overseeing football operations at Greek side Olympiacos and Portuguese club Rio Ave, both owned by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis. His departure follows a turbulent period for Nottingham Forest, which saw four different managers appointed during the 2025-26 season. Sources indicate that Edu's position came under scrutiny following a strained relationship with Nuno Espirito Santo, the first of the four managers to depart last September. Nuno had hinted at internal tensions and difficulties working within the new structure following Edu's arrival. Reports also suggest Edu struggled to foster relationships with key staff members and the club's owner, and that the role itself did not align with his initial expectations.
