ED searches Karnataka Minister Jarkiholi properties Sept 9
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at approximately 18 properties linked to Karnataka Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi, his family members, and associates. The coordinated searches took place in Bengaluru, Belagavi, and Gokak as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities. Officials stated that the ED was examining documents and electronic devices for evidence related to alleged foreign investments, fund transfers, and business dealings, including potential violations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act. The agency is reportedly looking into investments in mining, sugar, and real estate sectors, as well as an alleged overseas investment in a school in an African country. The investigation is also connected to suspected irregularities in the issuance of liquor and bar licenses. Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday termed the searches "politically motivated," questioning their timing as the Congress government approached its 100-day milestone. Shivakumar asserted that Satish Jarkiholi is an honest politician and expressed confidence that he has committed no wrongdoing.
