Eagles Barkley Exits With Stinger On First Carry

Published 20 September 2026

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley suffered a stinger on his first carry against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and returned to the sideline wearing a neck roll, but his game status remained uncertain. The injury occurred on the Eagles' opening offensive snap in Nashville when Barkley was tackled for no gain by Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. He was escorted to the sideline medical tent and then went to the locker room for further evaluation. The team later confirmed Barkley had suffered a left-arm stinger and listed him as questionable to return. He eventually reappeared on the sideline in full uniform but wearing a neck collar, a protective device designed to limit extreme backward head movement. Despite returning to the sideline, he did not re-enter the game and was seen without his helmet. A stinger, also known as a burner, is an injury to the brachial plexus nerves between the neck and shoulder, often caused by overstretching. It can result in immediate loss of sensation, numbness, or weakness in the affected arm.
