DVAC searches ex-DMK minister K.N. Nehru's properties

Directorate of Vigilance and AntiCorruption (DVAC) officials on Saturday launched searches at 19 locations across Tamil Nadu linked to former DMK minister K.N. Nehru and his brother. The coordinated operation began Saturday morning at properties in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli, including Nehru's residence in Thillai Nagar, Tiruchirappalli, and premises in Chennai's Mylapore, Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, Anna Nagar, and Abhiramapuram areas. The searches are reportedly connected to allegations of corruption and irregularities during Nehru's tenure as minister for Municipal Administration and Water Supply. Specifically, DVAC officials are investigating claims involving irregularities in the recruitment of 2,538 individuals and alleged illegal financial transactions. According to reports, the DVAC had previously registered a case against Nehru in June, following directions from the Madras High Court concerning recruitment irregularities within the department. The Directorate of Vigilance and AntiCorruption has also filed an FIR under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, naming Nehru, his brothers, and several officials.
