Dutch AI Chip Startup Euclyd Raises Over $230M From Samsung-Led Group
Dutch semiconductor startup Euclyd has raised over $230 million in a Series A funding round to develop custom AI inference chips and systems, positioning itself as a potential challenger to Nvidia's dominance in AI computing. The round was co-led by Samsung Electronics, Somerset Capital Partners, and the Scaleup Europe Fund, with participation from other institutional investors including imec.xpand. The company, founded in 2024 and based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, is developing a chip called Craftwerk and a larger computing system known as the Craftwerk Station (CWS). Euclyd states its technology is focused specifically on AI inference-the process where trained models generate responses-rather than training. The company claims its architecture can achieve approximately 100 times higher power efficiency than conventional GPU-based solutions, though these claims have not yet been independently verified or demonstrated at commercial scale. Former ASML CEO Peter Wennink has joined Euclyd's board as non-executive chairman.
