DSS Rearrests Miyetti Allah Leader Bodejo After EFCC Release

Operatives of the Department of State Services rearrested Bello Bodejo, the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, on Friday, August 28, 2026, moments after he was released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja. The arrest occurred outside the EFCC headquarters as Bodejo and his family were preparing to leave following the fulfillment of his bail conditions in a pending money laundering case. Bodejo had been in EFCC custody since his arraignment on July 9, 2026, on a 12-count charge. On July 20, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail in the sum of N2 billion, with a surety required to provide a N2 billion bond, a three-year tax clearance certificate, and property in Abuja valued at N2 billion. His lawyers reportedly perfected these conditions earlier in the week, leading to his scheduled release on Friday. According to his wife, Hajiya Hauwa Bodejo, the family was informed by the EFCC that the bail requirements had been met and proceeded to the commission's headquarters.
