DOJ Charges 16 Noncitizens for Illegal Voting in 7 States

The Department of Justice announced on September 18, 2026, that it has charged 16 noncitizens across seven states with illegal voting, voter registration violations, and related election crimes. The charges are part of a broader enforcement effort by the Trump administration targeting alleged noncitizen voting in federal elections. The defendants face accusations of unlawful voting by noncitizens, false claims of U.S. citizenship to register or vote, and additional offenses such as wire fraud, naturalization fraud, passport fraud, and unlawful firearm purchases. The cases span Texas, Idaho, Georgia, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Michigan. In Texas, eight noncitizens were charged, including seven lawful permanent residents and one undocumented immigrant. The largest number of arrests occurred in Texas, with seven cases announced on September 15. Among the defendants is Analiea Milliscent Eccles, a 44-year-old Venezuelan DACA recipient in Georgia, who allegedly voted nine times between 2008 and 2024. She is charged with voting as a noncitizen and falsely claiming U.S. citizenship.
