Dodgers to place Shohei Ohtani on injured list

Published 10 September 2026

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday night that two-way star Shohei Ohtani will be placed on the injured list with right arm discomfort, sidelining the four-time MVP as the team pushes for a third consecutive World Series title. Ohtani has missed six of the last seven games while managing lingering soreness in his right biceps and left knee, and he felt something in his arm on a swing during Monday's game. He told the training staff about the issue after playing Monday, and was scratched from Wednesday's lineup after Roberts had said the night before that he expected him to play. Roberts said the decision to use the injured list came after consultations with Ohtani, the doctors and the training staff, and he acknowledged some regret that the team had not made the move earlier, when it instead gave Ohtani four days of rest. The manager said Ohtani will first take two or three days of rest to calm the arm down before slowly ramping back up. He will not travel with the team on its upcoming East Coast road trip, which opens Friday in Miami.
