Frances Diane Parry secured the first WTA singles title of her career on August 30, 2026, with an upset victory over second seed Elise Mertens in the final of the Monterrey Open in Mexico. The 23-year-old Frenchwoman, ranked 50th in the world, defeated the experienced Belgian, ranked 24th, in a hard-fought three-set match that lasted two hours and 31 minutes. Parry won the match 6-4, 0-6, 6-3. She started confidently, breaking Mertens for the second time in the 10th game to take the first set. However, Mertens, who was chasing her 11th singles title, responded dominantly in the second set, winning six straight games to level the match.
