Dhanush’s D56 begins filming, targets Summer 2027 release

Dhanush’s tentatively titled D56 has begun filming after a launch ceremony at a temple in Maranadu, in Tamil Nadu’s Sivaganga district, near Madurai. The film is directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu and is targeting a theatrical release in Summer 2027, according to information shared by the production team and reported by news accounts. The cast includes Vadivelu, S. J. Suryah, Preity Mukundan and Vijay Kumar alongside Dhanush. Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music. The project is produced by Sithara Entertainments, Primark Productions and Srikara Studios. D56 marks the first collaboration between Dhanush and Pachamuthu, whose previous film as director was Lubber Pandhu. The temple pooja preceded the start of filming. Reports place the ceremony at the Karuppasamy or Karuppanasamy Temple in Maranadu, Sivaganga district. The film’s final title and plot have not been announced, and the Summer 2027 window is a target rather than a fixed release date. Vadivelu said at the launch that he was pleased to have the opportunity to work with Dhanush after a long gap. He attributed the earlier lack of collaboration to a misunderstanding caused by a third person.
