Desmond Elliot kneels to apologize to Gbajabiamila in APC dispute

Nollywood actor and Lagos State lawmaker Desmond Elliot publicly apologized to Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, on Sunday, September 14, 2026, seeking to mend their political relationship following a dispute during an All Progressives Congress primary election. In a video shared on social media, Elliot was seen kneeling and prostrating before Gbajabiamila, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, during a meeting with party chieftains. "I'm sorry. I have no excuse. I have nothing other than to say I'm deeply sorry. I'm deeply sorry, sir. And in our culture, we prostrate. Don't be angry, Daddy," Elliot said in the video. Gbajabiamila, who is Elliot's political mentor, asked him to stand up after the apology. The meeting appeared to signal a reconciliation between the two prominent figures within the Lagos APC. The apology stems from tensions during a recent APC primary election for the Surulere Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
