The remains were found on August 17 in a desert area about 15 miles from Guthrie's home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood, where the 84-year-old mother of NBC "Today" show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie vanished without a trace on February 1. The Pima County Sheriff's Department stated last week that there was "no indication" the remains are connected to Guthrie's disappearance, though officials stopped short of definitively ruling out a link.
