Delhi traffic disrupted for BRICS motorcade rehearsal

Delhi commuters faced significant traffic disruptions on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, as the Delhi Traffic Police implemented restrictions and diversions across more than 35 roads in central and south Delhi for a motorcade rehearsal ahead of the upcoming BRICS Summit. The measures, which were in effect from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., were part of security and logistical preparations for the movement of visiting dignitaries. The rehearsal affected major arterial routes including Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Mathura Road, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Barakhamba Road, and Shanti Path. Traffic police established 22 diversion points to manage the flow of vehicles, with key locations including Dr Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk, Patel Chowk, the RML Hospital roundabout, Dhaula Kuan Flyover, and Moti Bagh Flyover. At several of these points, specific restrictions were applied, such as barring vehicles from proceeding towards certain landmarks like Mathura Road or Windsor Place.
