Delhi Couple Arrested for Spying for Pakistan's ISI

The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a young couple on charges of spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) since 2024, uncovering an espionage network that allegedly supplied Indian SIM cards to Pakistan and gathered sensitive information on Indian military activities. The accused, identified as Sahil, 25, and his wife Sameera, 21, were taken into custody following an investigation that traced links from Delhi to handlers in Karachi and Islamabad. According to police, the couple obtained eight Indian SIM cards between 2024 and 2025 and sent them to Pakistan through Dubai. They were allegedly paid Rs 30,000 for these cards. Officials stated that the SIM numbers were used to activate WhatsApp accounts in Pakistan, which were then employed to contact individuals in India and attempt to extract information from Indian WhatsApp groups. The investigation revealed that Pakistan-based handlers communicated with people in India, including alleged overground workers and sleeper cells, via social media and encrypted platforms.
