De Niro in Talks to Play Tommy Lasorda in Biopic

Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro is in talks to portray legendary Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda in a new sports biopic. The project, which has the working title "Tommy & Me," is being developed by Skydance Sports, with Reid Carolin attached to direct. The film will chronicle the life and career of Lasorda, a Hall of Fame manager who spent over seven decades with the Dodgers organization. Lasorda, who died in 2021 at age 93, is celebrated for leading the team to four National League pennants and two World Series championships during his 20-year managerial tenure from 1976 to 1996. According to reports, the script is being written by George Gallo, Cambron Clark, and Carolin. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps. The production is being led by Skydance Sports, with additional producers including Mandalay Pictures, Intuition Productions, and Free Association. The project is in early development, and De Niro's deal is not yet finalized. The actor is known for his transformative roles in sports dramas, most notably his Oscar-winning performance as boxer Jake LaMotta in "Raging Bull.
