Days of Thunder Sequel with Cruise, Hathaway Set for 2028

Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway will star in a sequel to the 1990 racing film "Days of Thunder," with Paramount Pictures scheduling the movie for release on June 2, 2028. The announcement was made on August 29, 2026, via a promotional video featuring the two actors at the Daytona International Speedway. Cruise, 64, will reprise his role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle, the character he originated in the original film. Hathaway, 43, will join the franchise as a team owner and engineer. In the announcement clip, a visibly pregnant Hathaway joked with Cruise about making the film after she has her baby, to which Cruise replied, "We're coming out summer of 2028. Don't be late.
