Davis-Woodhall concussion casts doubt on championship

Olympic and world champion long jumper Tara Davis-Woodhall is facing uncertainty regarding her participation in the upcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championship after sustaining a severe concussion in a car crash. The accident occurred last week as she was driving to a training session, leaving her unable to train and casting doubt on her ability to compete in the event scheduled for September 11 to 13 in Budapest. Davis-Woodhall, 27, shared details and footage of the incident on social media, explaining that the head-on collision happened in a car park. She stated that she was lucky to escape without life-threatening injuries, though the concussion and other injuries have prevented her from training. Both vehicles involved in the crash were reportedly totaled. "Last week I was involved in a head on collision on my way to practice," Davis-Woodhall wrote. "Luckily I walked away without any major injuries. However, a severe concussion and other injuries have not allowed me to train." Speaking to reporters, she described the incident as "very scary" and expressed gratitude for being alive.
