Davidson Says West’s Attacks Felt Especially Personal
Pete Davidson said in a retrospective interview that Kanye West’s online attacks during Davidson’s relationship with Kim Kardashian felt especially hurtful because West knew he had spoken openly about his mental-health struggles. Davidson described the attacks as carrying a message akin to “Kill yourself” and said, “he did push me.” Davidson discussed the period in an interview with Variety published September 30. He and Kardashian dated in 2021 and 2022, while she was divorcing West. West publicly targeted Davidson during the relationship, including in social media posts and the music video for “Eazy,” which depicted a claymation figure resembling Davidson being decapitated. Davidson said he had been unsettled that West appeared not to consider his openness about mental health when attacking him. His description of the effect on him was personal; the accounts of the interview did not include a response from West to Davidson’s latest comments. Asked whether his being half-Jewish explained West’s conduct, Davidson rejected that as a sufficient explanation.
