Dacia Spring Redesigned, European Production Shifted

Dacia is launching a completely redesigned, European-built version of its popular Spring electric vehicle, shifting production from China to Slovenia to qualify for local subsidies and compete more effectively in the European market. The move aims to bolster Dacia's position as a provider of affordable electric mobility as the European Union continues to push for reduced emissions. The new generation Spring, which will begin deliveries in early 2027, features a larger, more muscular exterior design and an updated interior. It is built on the RGEV Small platform, shared with models like the Renault Twingo ETech. The vehicle is approximately 15 centimeters (5.9 inches) longer and 18 centimeters (7.1 inches) wider than its predecessor, giving it a more substantial road presence. Under the hood, the Spring is powered by a single electric motor producing 80 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque. Energy is supplied by a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering up to 155 miles of range on the WLTP cycle. Charging capabilities include a standard 6.6 kW AC onboard charger, with an optional upgrade to an 11 kW AC charger or a 50 kW DC fast charger.
