Cubs' Bregman Hospitalized After Foul Ball to Face

Chicago Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman was hospitalized after being struck in the face by a foul ball during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds, a frightening incident that overshadowed the team's 9-1 victory. In the fourth inning, with Bregman standing in the on-deck circle, teammate Michael Busch fouled off a pitch from Reds pitcher Luis Mey. The ball deflected and hit Bregman near his left eye, causing immediate bleeding and swelling. Bregman left the game and was escorted to the dugout, where he received medical attention. Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters that Bregman suffered a bloody nose, a cut on his left cheekbone, and significant swelling.
