Crew-13 reaches space station with Canadian astronaut aboard

Published 2 October 2026

NASA’s Crew-13 mission launched from Florida on October 1 and reached the International Space Station less than eight hours later, carrying Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk and three crewmates for a planned six-month stay. The crew docked after additional procedures and joined the people already aboard the station, beginning a mission centered on research and maintenance. Kutryk, a Canadian Space Agency astronaut, is a mission specialist on the four-person crew. NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney and Russian cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov are also aboard. NASA described Crew-13’s trip to the station as its fastest-ever flight, taking just under eight hours. After docking, the crew entered the station and was welcomed by its residents. During the planned mission, the crew is expected to conduct experiments, support station maintenance and take part in technology demonstrations. NASA has described research involving disease, crop production and astronaut health, including work intended to improve understanding of how the human body responds to spaceflight.
