Court Orders INEC to Approve and Upload NDC's Modified Logo

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to approve and immediately upload the modified logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for use in all elections. The court's directive, issued by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on Tuesday, stems from a suit filed by the NDC against the electoral body. The court's enrolled order, shared on social media late Wednesday by NDC national leader Seriake Dickson, mandates INEC to forthwith approve the party's modified logo, including its symbol and colors, for all official purposes. The modified design features a digitally designed two-finger victory sign against a blue background, with the word NDC in red. In addition to the approval order, the court granted a perpetual injunction restraining INEC, its agents, or representatives from interfering with the NDC's use of the modified logo. The commission was also ordered to immediately upload the logo to its official website. The court declared INEC's refusal to permit the NDC to modify its color and logo design unconstitutional, illegal, and an infringement of the party's constitutional and statutory rights.
