Columbia Officer Killed, Another Injured in Shooting

A Columbia, South Carolina, police officer was killed and a second was injured in a shooting on Saturday, August 29, 2026, after responding to a domestic dispute call. The suspect, a 33-year-old man with an extensive criminal record, also died in the incident. The deceased officer was identified as 29-year-old Christopher DeLong Jr., who had been with the Columbia Police Department for two years.
