Coalition Says It Intercepted Missile Over Medina

Published 15 October 2026

Saudi-led coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said Thursday that the coalition intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile over the Medina region, but did not identify who launched it or its intended target. The announcement came amid a series of missile and drone incidents reported in Saudi Arabia. On Wednesday, the coalition said it had intercepted a ballistic missile launched toward Riyadh. Saudi Civil Defense reported that debris from the interception injured one resident and caused limited damage to a home and a vehicle. Civil Defense also said debris from two cruise missiles intercepted on Tuesday injured four people and damaged 15 homes in Riyadh. These casualty and damage figures were attributed to the Saudi agency. The reports did not establish whether the debris incidents were connected to the missile intercepted over Medina. The coalition’s Thursday statement did not provide details about possible casualties or damage from the Medina interception. It followed an earlier coalition announcement that a drone had been intercepted over Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
