Claude AI Unifies Memory Across Chat and Cowork Platforms

Anthropic has launched a significant update to its Claude AI assistant, unifying the memory system across its chat interface and the Cowork platform. The change, which took effect on August 25, 2026, allows information learned in one context to automatically carry over to the other, aiming to eliminate the need for users to repeatedly re-explain details when switching between tasks. Previously, users had to manually transfer context from chat conversations to Cowork, a process the company described as time-consuming and frustrating. Now, Claude adds to its memory in real-time as users chat, and these memories are instantly shared between both products.
