Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice files for bankruptcy

Published 6 November 2026

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has filed for bankruptcy, listing more than $3.45 million in debts and about $677,054 in personal assets, according to court documents. The filing says $421,825 of his assets is deferred compensation and identifies substantial liabilities linked to civil cases stemming from a 2024 crash in Dallas and allegations by a former girlfriend. The bankruptcy schedules list $979,837 owed under a civil settlement related to the crash. They also identify about $700,000 in claims by crash victims and about $200,000 connected to the former girlfriend’s allegations. Rice disputes those latter amounts, according to reports on the filing; their inclusion does not establish that he is liable for them. The filing lists more than $2.1 million in debt tied to civil lawsuits. It also reportedly shows Rice pledged his Super Bowl LVIII ring, valued at $160,000, as collateral for his attorney’s fees. A creditors’ meeting is scheduled for December 11 as part of the proceeding. Rice pleaded guilty to felony charges arising from the crash and received five years of probation and a 30-day jail sentence. He also served a separate 30-day jail term this year...
