ChatGPT Learns to Mimic User Writing Styles

OpenAI is testing a new feature for ChatGPT that allows the artificial intelligence model to learn and replicate a user's unique writing style. The functionality, referred to as "Writing Styles" or "Reference my writing style," aims to make AI-generated content sound more natural and human by mimicking individual communication patterns. The feature enables ChatGPT to analyze writing samples from connected applications such as Gmail, Google Drive, Slack, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Notion. By granting access to these services, users can allow the AI to study their vocabulary, tone, sentence structure, preferred phrases, capitalization habits, and signoffs. Once trained on these examples, ChatGPT can then draft memos, reports, and other documents in a voice that closely resembles the user's own. This capability is currently available to a limited group of users and is integrated into ChatGPT Work, a version of the chatbot accessible through paid plans. An onboarding screen reportedly indicates that ChatGPT will write "in your voice by referencing examples from your connected apps.
