Chargers WR McConkey Day-to-Day With Rib Injury

Published 15 September 2026

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey is considered day-to-day with a rib injury suffered during the team's season-opening loss to the Arizona Cardinals, leaving his availability for Week 2 uncertain. The injury occurred in the third quarter of the 26-14 defeat on September 14, 2026, after McConkey took a hard hit from Cardinals linebacker Mack Wilson while attempting to catch a pass over the middle of the field. McConkey was evaluated on the field before being escorted to the locker room and did not return to the game. He had been a key offensive contributor prior to the injury, recording five receptions for 82 yards and one of the Chargers' two touchdowns. Coach Jim Harbaugh addressed the injury on September 15, describing McConkey's status as day-to-day. The team is monitoring his progress throughout the week before determining his status for the upcoming home game against the Las Vegas Raiders on September 21. The injury is officially listed as a rib issue, though the full extent is still being evaluated. The Chargers have not provided a specific diagnosis or recovery timeline beyond the day-to-day designation.
