Channel 5 commissions drama on Sturgeon-Murrell marriage

Channel 5 has commissioned a 90-minute factual drama exploring the collapse of former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon's marriage to Peter Murrell, following his conviction for embezzling £400,000 from the Scottish National Party. The project, currently under the working title "To Nicola, Love Peter," will examine the couple's relationship against the backdrop of Murrell's financial crimes, which were uncovered during a major police investigation. Murrell, who served as the SNP's chief executive from 2001 to 2023, was arrested in April 2023 as part of Operation Branchform. He pleaded guilty in May 2026 and was sentenced to five years and three months in prison.
