Centre Appoints 8 New High Court Chief Justices

The central government on Saturday, September 5, 2026, appointed new Chief Justices for eight High Courts across India, following recommendations from the Supreme Court Collegium. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the appointments on the social media platform X, stating they were made in consultation with the Chief Justice of India and in accordance with constitutional provisions. The appointments, which were officially notified on September 5, come after the Collegium recommended the names on August 9 and August 31.
