CBS Launches NCIS New York Spinoff With LL Cool J

CBS is set to launch a new spinoff in its long-running NCIS franchise, titled NCIS New York, which will premiere on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The series marks the return of actor LL Cool J to the role of Special Agent Sam Hanna, a character he portrayed for 14 seasons on NCIS: Los Angeles. In the new show, Hanna returns to his hometown of New York City to lead a newly formed NCIS field office. He is partnered with a new character, Nick Schaeffer, played by Scott Caan. The pilot episode centers on the investigation into the death of Hanna's friend, Navy reservist Jack Halloway. The team is introduced by Assistant Special Agent in Charge Robyn Wells, portrayed by Jennifer Beals. The core team also includes Special Agents Wyatt Sellers and Addy Ross, and tech specialist Sean Sullivan. According to the show's logline, the team will be tasked with high-stakes missions to defend one of the most vital cities and ports in the world. The series is described as a darker and edgier take on the NCIS formula.
