CBI Opens Probe Into Disha Salian Death After Court Order

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) to investigate the 2020 death of Disha Salian, a celebrity manager, following an order from the Bombay High Court. The FIR was filed on Monday, September 14, 2026, after the court directed a fresh probe and criticized the Mumbai Police for treating the case as an accidental death for six years. Salian, who had worked with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was found dead on June 8, 2020, after falling from a building in Mumbai's Malad area. Her death occurred just days before Rajput was found dead at his residence on June 14, 2020. The Mumbai Police had initially registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and later filed a closure report. The Bombay High Court's order came after Salian's father, Satish Salian, approached the court seeking a CBI investigation. The court criticized the police handling, noting "glaring discrepancies" and observing that the original probe "raises more questions than answers." The court also directed that no one be named an accused unless there is evidence against them.
