Carty denies deliberate fall from ring

Heavyweight boxer Thomas Carty has defended himself against speculation that he deliberately fell out of the ring during his bout with Dave Allen at Croke Park in Dublin on Saturday night. The fight, which was part of the undercard for Katie Taylor's historic farewell bout, ended prematurely in the opening round after Carty went through the ropes and onto the floor. The incident occurred approximately 90 seconds into the first round. According to Carty and his team, Allen landed two illegal blows to the back of Carty's head. Carty's team stated that the second blow caused a momentary lapse in concentration, leading him to reach for the ropes to regain his balance. The ropes reportedly gave way, propelling Carty headfirst out of the ring, where he struck his head on a ringside table. This resulted in a suspected concussion, and the ringside doctor advised the referee to stop the contest, leading to a no contest ruling. Carty addressed the claims directly in a video shared on social media, stating he had reviewed the fight footage and saw no evidence of him intentionally exiting the ring.
