Carmen Bryan Sues N.O.R.E. for Alleged 1999 Sexual Assault

Carmen Bryan has filed a civil lawsuit in New York alleging that rapper and media personality N.O.R.E. sexually assaulted her in May 1999. The complaint, filed on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, states that the alleged incident occurred at a Manhattan nightclub during a promotional event for N.O.R.E.'s sophomore album, Melvin Flynt Da Hustler. According to the lawsuit, Bryan, a former finance officer at Def Jam affiliate Rush Management who shares a child with rapper Nas, claims N.O.R.E., whose real name is Victor James Santiago Jr., was visibly intoxicated and physically overpowered her. The complaint details an act of nonconsensual digital penetration, stating that Bryan made verbal objections and pleaded for Santiago to stop, but he ignored her pleas. Other clubgoers reportedly had to intervene and pull Santiago off Bryan. Following the alleged assault, Bryan claims N.O.R.E. followed her outside the club and, upon recognizing her as Nas's child's mother, apologized, saying, "Carm, I didn't know it was you. You're always doing something different with your hair." A similar apology was allegedly offered weeks later at a barbecue hosted for their daughter's birthday.
