The development resolves a months-long dispute over the fight's location, which had threatened to derail the all-British clash. Joshua's contract with the Saudi state-owned promotional company Sela stipulates the fight must take place in the United Kingdom, a point his promoter Eddie Hearn has insisted on. This contractual clause has been the central obstacle, as broadcaster Netflix and Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh had pushed for the event to be held at Madison Square Garden in New York to capture a larger global audience. The Principality Stadium, with its retractable roof and capacity for approximately 80,000 spectators, is seen as a viable solution. Its roof is a key advantage for a late-November date, eliminating weather concerns that hampered Wembley Stadium's prospects. However, for the fight to proceed in Cardiff, local authorities would need to grant an extension to the stadium's 10:30 p.m. curfew to accommodate the 2 a.m. start time desired by Netflix for its American audience.
