Candidates named in four B.C. provincial ridings
Several parties have named candidates for British Columbia’s Oct. 24 provincial election, with finalized ballot choices reported in Salmon Arm-Shuswap and new candidacies announced in Langley-Walnut Grove, Surrey-Guildford and Chilliwack North. The NDP announced Holly Isaac as its candidate in Langley-Walnut Grove on Oct. 2. She will challenge incumbent B.C. Conservative MLA Misty Van Popta. Isaac previously ran federally for the NDP in 2025 in Langley-Fraser Heights. She has worked as a Canada Post letter carrier and held union roles, including shop steward and union first vice-president. In Salmon Arm-Shuswap, the finalized ballot at the Oct. 3 nomination deadline listed four candidates: Gloria Morgan for the NDP, Barbara Presch for OneBC, Jed Wiebe for the Greens and incumbent David Williams for the Conservatives. Morgan previously represented the NDP in the 2025 federal election in Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenay. Wiebe and Williams also ran in the 2024 provincial election, with Williams winning the seat. The Conservative Party of B.C. announced Garry Thind as its candidate in Surrey-Guildford. Thind was already running for Surrey school board trustee in the Oct.
