Camilo Septimo Keyboardist Killed With Pregnant Wife, Daughter in Mexico
Jonathan Samuel Melendez Ochoa, a founding member of the Mexican indie rock band Camilo Septimo, was killed along with his pregnant wife, their young daughter, and a household employee in an attack at their home near Mexico City on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The couple's 6-year-old son was found alive and unharmed inside the residence. Authorities have arrested two men in connection with the killings. The attack occurred between approximately 5:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. at the Grand Viure residential complex in the Zona Esmeralda area of Atizapan de Zaragoza, in the State of Mexico. Municipal police were called to the scene shortly before midnight. Investigators found four deceased victims, all of whom had suffered gunshot wounds. Two of the adult victims were found bound. The victims were identified as Melendez, 38; his wife, Ana Paula, 35, who was four months pregnant; their 3-year-old daughter, Sofia; and 21-year-old Aleyda Romero, who worked with the family. The family's dog was also killed. The State of Mexico Prosecutors Office confirmed the discovery of the unharmed 6-year-old boy, who was later placed in the care of relatives.
