Calicut FC Footballer Rijohn Jose Dies in Kozhikode Motorcycle Accident

Calicut FC footballer Rijohn Jose, 29, died following a motorcycle collision on a Kozhikode flyover on Sunday night, September 21, 2026. His teammate, Gani Ahmed Nigam, was injured in the accident and is receiving treatment. The collision occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. on the Gandhi Road flyover near Christian College. Police reports state that the motorcycle carrying Rijohn and Gani collided with another two-wheeler traveling in the opposite direction. All four individuals involved were transported to Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital. Rijohn was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, despite medical efforts. Nadakkavu police have registered a case against the rider of the other motorcycle following a complaint from the Calicut FC manager. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing. Rijohn was a defender and a native of Ollur in Thrissur. He had recently joined the Calicut FC squad as the team prepared for the upcoming Super League Kerala season, which is scheduled to begin on September 25. He was part of the Calicut FC side that won the inaugural Super League Kerala title in 2024.
