Burning Man Festival Sees Three Deaths This Year

Three individuals have died in connection with the 2026 Burning Man festival, a figure that triples the event's average annual fatality rate. The latest death occurred while an attendee was being transported to a hospital in Reno, Nevada, according to officials. The week-long gathering in the Black Rock Desert concluded on September 7, 2026. Pershing County Sheriff Jerry Allen stated that two deaths occurred within the festival grounds, while a third individual died en route to a medical facility. Authorities have reported no signs of foul play in the deaths that took place inside Black Rock City. The festival, which draws tens of thousands of participants, typically averages one death per year. The first reported fatality occurred on September 3, when a man in his mid-50s was found unresponsive and received CPR. He was pronounced dead at the festival's onsite medical center. The second death involved a 60-year-old man, identified as Craigh Mann, who was found deceased in his camp on September 5. The third individual died during transport to a Reno-area hospital, with that incident occurring on September 7.
