Bullock: Practical Magic 3 needs sequel success, new stars

Sandra Bullock has outlined a clear condition for the potential creation of a third "Practical Magic" film: the success of its upcoming sequel and a willingness to pass the franchise's magical baton to a new generation of actresses. Bullock, reprising her role as Sally Owens alongside Nicole Kidman as Gillian Owens, stated that she and Kidman would "do a number three if this takes off, and well pass the torch to the girls." The sequel, "Practical Magic 2," is scheduled to be released in United States theaters on September 10, 2026, nearly 28 years after the original 1998 film. In the new installment, Joey King and Maisie Williams join the cast as younger witches Kylie and Antonia Owens, respectively. Bullock indicated that these characters represent the natural bridge to a future installment, suggesting the focus would shift to them. Bullock shared her thoughts on a potential third film during a recent interview with Vanity Fair, discussing the sequel's anticipation. She acknowledged the original film's initial reception, noting that while she and Kidman loved making it, its focus on female relationships, witchcraft, and domestic issues faced dismissive attitudes at the time.
