Bruins sign Fraser Minten to 7-year, $50.4M deal

The Boston Bruins have signed center Fraser Minten to a seven-year contract extension worth $50.4 million, a move designed to secure a key young player for the long term. The deal, announced Tuesday, will keep Minten with the Bruins through the 2033-34 season. Starting with the 2027-28 season, Minten's contract will carry an annual salary cap hit of $7.2 million. He is currently playing the final year of his entry-level contract for the 2026-27 season, with a projected cap hit of $879,166. The extension represents a significant commitment from the Bruins, who are building a new core of talent around established players like David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy. Minten, 22, is coming off a breakout season in 2025-26, where he set career highs across the board. In 82 games, he recorded 17 goals, 18 assists, and 35 points, providing secondary scoring for the team. He also registered a career-high 142 hits and finished with a plus-21 rating, leading all NHL rookies and ranking second on the Bruins roster. His 35 points were the most by a Bruins rookie since the 2017-18 season. Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney expressed confidence in the player's development.
